The Village seeks a permanent part-time Deputy Fire Chief.
Reporting to the Manager of Protective Services (who also holds the position of Fire Chief), the Deputy Fire Chief is responsible for supporting the Fire Chief with the long-range planning and daily operation and administration of the Cumberland Volunteer Fire Department.
The Deputy Fire Chief works closely with relevant community groups and associations, and internally with department members. The major emphasis of this position shall be facilities/equipment maintenance, recordkeeping of department documents, training, fire inspections, and public education and community awareness campaigns.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced fire service professional with excellent communications skills (both verbal and written), who is comfortable working with the public in a fast-paced environment.
The successful candidate will possess Fire fighter level 2, ICS100 & 200 ESM 1, ISO, FSI 1, EOC 100 & 200, S-100 or equivalent; have extensive knowledge of fire hazards, fire protection methods, modern fire-fighting and related emergency services techniques and procedures; extensive knowledge of fire prevention, suppression, inspection, and investigation methods, procedures, and related regulations; 10 years as a firefighter, five of which as a line officer; and extensive knowledge in communication and computer systems relevant to emergency services – Including FirePro. Candidates must have emergency scene management training, a valid Class 3 Drivers’ License with Air Endorsement, and a clear Criminal Record check.
The wage for this permanent part-time position is $28.00 per hour plus 15 per cent in lieu of benefits based on a three-day, 24-hour work week. Visit our website cumberland.ca and search “careers” to view the job description for this position.
