POSITION DESCRIPTION

Calgary Distribution Center General Manager (Garage Door Industry)

Job Unit:                           Sales/Line Management

Position:                           Exempt

Salary:                                 Salaried + Bonus

Range:                                 $50k – $60k base USD

Summary Description

This position reports directly to the DC Operations Manager and has direct responsibility for the Profitability of the Division / Distribution.  This responsibility includes both Sales and Operations of the Division, including but not limited to: accounting practices, inventory control, and warehouse and personnel management, development and implementation of systems and personnel to meet requirements for customer service, financial control and reporting functions for the Division as required by Senior Management.

Essential Duties

Direct responsibility for daily operations of the Distribution Center.
Sourcing, selection and orientation skills in the development of and performance feedback to all personnel.
Accurate counting, ordering, receiving, inventory and pricing of products from the factory and outside vendors.
Residential and Commercial Specifications and bid process as required to maximize profitability for the D.C. and the factory.
Order processing, invoicing, credit management in the system and in accordance with established procedures.

This position directly supports planning, analyzing, and evaluating Division sales, operations and personnel in a continuous effort to develop short and long range sales objectives, plan strategies for attainment, develop performance standards and measure attainment of goals on a continuous and consistent basis.

Essential Job Skills and Experience

Education/Experience:

Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications should include a combination of:

Five (5)years experience in our Industry (Garage Door) or in a field directly relating to Distribution Center Management.
Two (2) years in a supervisor capacity with direct responsibility for personnel selection and development and feedback.
Three (3) years progressively responsible experience in development of sales or marketing.

Knowledge:   Principles, practices, and methods of commercial (contractor) and residential sales, garage door installation and operational business issues; budgeting and reporting; sales analysis and forecasting.   Understanding of federal and local laws and regulations that govern the selection, development, promotion and performance change issues including reviews and corrective actions up to and including terminations.

Skill:  Planning, coordinating, and directing sales, warehouse and installation operations.  Preparing varied sales reports and analyses; communicating clearly and concisely orally and in writing; selecting, supervising, training and evaluating support staff.

Desirable qualifications: Current and continuing education and/or experience relating to sales, business administration and personnel development.
