Corporate Officer – City of Langley

The Corporate Officer reports to the Chief Administrative Officer and has the responsibility for legislative and corporate administration under the Community Charter for the City of Langley. A key focus will be to implement strategic initiatives as directed by City Council or the Chief Administrative Officer. The Corporate Officer is responsible for arranging and preparing Council meetings, administration of oaths, affirmations, affidavits and declarations to be taken under oath as required, is the signing authority for City documents, acts as the Chief Elections Officer, and is the designated Coordinator and Head under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act for the City. The Corporate Officer also oversees clerical and administrative support to City Council and is accountable for the direction of the legislative and corporate functions; compiling and preparing annual budgets; and hiring, training and performance management of divisional staff. The successful candidate will maintain highly effective relationships with City officials, department heads, staff and the public.

The Corporate Officer will demonstrate effective management, communication and planning skills. We are looking for someone who has a degree in public administration, government, business administration, law, or related discipline, plus a minimum five years’ related experience in a local or regional government or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience. A Certified Municipal Clerk designation though the Institute of Municipal Clerks is desirable. A valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s Licence is required.
