John Ross & Sons Ltd. is a 4th generation family owned scrap metal recycler based in Bayer’s Lake in Halifax. The Corporate Manager role is an opportunity meant to assist the company in the development, implementation and maintenance of our large industrial accounts and customer relations as the company continues to grow.
Position Description:
Reporting directly to the owners, this position involves a leadership role whereby the successful candidate will be in charge of container rental services and industrial accounts for John Ross & Sons Ltd. Essential functions will include, but are not limited to:
Possess a thorough understanding of business processes and key performance indicators
Ensures compliance with all quality control and safety procedures
Ability to manage and motivate a diverse team of drivers
Ensure compliance to all company policies and procedures
Manage environmental and health & safety programs and processes to create a safe environment for all employees, customers and visitors
Measure and report service and operational data and efficiencies, identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities
Work with the logistics team in order to schedule drivers and container drop-offs/pick-ups
Submit driver hours to payroll on a weekly basis
Ensure all driver logbooks are completed and organized
Reporting to management daily to review outgoing and incoming rental containers
Ensure communication with Logistics and drivers on what material is coming in from where and when
Work with owners on setting and understanding pricing and markets
Work with other managers to discuss issues and come up with solutions to ensure productivity and efficiency with operations
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have management experience in a related industry. Other qualifications include:
Post-secondary education in a related discipline, or an acceptable combination of education and experience
5+ years’ experience in operations or corporate management
Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication and organization skills
Ability to plan, coordinate and monitor performance of team
Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
