RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include but not limited to:
Learning and gaining knowledge of the needs of seniors in our community and how accessing home and community care supports enables seniors to maintain independence, decrease isolation and increase socialization, thus allow seniors to remain in their own home.
Gaining experience of the importance of home and community supports through scheduling clients with rides to medical appointment, shopping, therapy appointments and community/social events.
Assisting Coordinators with scheduling of client assessments for seniors seeking assistance from the Seniors’ Transportation or Home Help program.
Gaining experience and knowledge in completing in-home client assessments and eligibility criteria evaluations to assess clients’ situation and to determine the types of services required/needed.
Assisting with the scheduling of client and volunteer rides and Home Help worker and client visits within our geographical area.
Assisting Coordinators with the distribution of policies and Occupational Health and Safety information to volunteers and workers.
Attaining knowledge in making the best use of community resources.
Assisting with volunteer and staff recruitment and retention.
Administrative duties such as typing letters, documents, and presentations.
Answering the telephone and general inquiries for the public.
Preparing and distributing public service announcements.
Answering general inquiries about the programs and receiving referrals.
Interacting with other agencies and key players.
Assisting with fundraising activities and information booths.
Assisting with other duties as assigned by the Coordinators.

QUALIFICATIONS
Must be between the ages of 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment.
A self-motivated individual who takes initiative and pays attention to detail.
Proficient in troubleshooting and resolving problems.
Bilingualism an asset.
Excellent interpersonal and recording skills.
A caring, non-judgemental individual.

Standard computer knowledge (Microsoft Office and Internet Research).
