The Town of Gibbons is seeking a highly skilled and experienced, ambitious and dynamic Professional who is prepared to provide progressive leadership for a key department within the Municipality’s structure.
Position Summary
Reporting to the CAO, the Community Services Director is responsible for promoting, enhancing and providing for the physical, mental and social well-being of individuals, families and the community as a whole. The successful candidate will be entrusted to provide professional leadership, clear direction and timely coordination to the department and committees within his or her portfolio which include:
Recreation and Culture Programs, Facilities, Special Events, along with Family and Community Support Services.
The Director provides support to the Community Services Advisory Board who actively engages our community by prioritizing initiatives, advancing Gibbons’ sustainability plan, and by tracking sustainability performance to ensure accountability.
Liaise with the respective boards or organizations to identify, facilitate and oversee community development opportunities and activities; facilitate the development of customer focused strategies, policies and operational plans; and serve as an advisor to Boards and Council on all matters pertinent to community sustainability planning, recreation, arts/culture, and preventive social services.
Requirements
A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field such as Recreation, Physical Education, Business or Social Work.
A minimum of 7 years of progressive management experience at the Senior Manager Level, preferably in a Municipal or Board-directed setting.
Superior verbal and written communication skills backed by proven leadership and strategic thinking experience.
A solid understanding of facility operations, community development, special event planning along with social marketing and financial planning.
A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software, pertinent municipal legislation.
Experience and training in a Municipal Administration environment is desirable.
A valid Class 5 Drivers License.
