Position Summary:
We are accepting applications from qualified candidates for the position of (CEDO) for Town of Irricana. Reporting directly to the Chief Administration Officer (CAO), the CEDO will approach community services and economic development with the theory of developing from “inside out” or bottom up for the entire town. It will be holistic in nature, collaborative, and from a community driven perspective. She/he will understand that goals and successes for rural and remote economic development,
The successful applicant will be responsible for facilitating, promoting and ensuring community services and economic development across the Southern Alberta region. She/he will assist the region’s businesses and communities by using tools to build and sustain economic development suited to their needs. The CEDO will act as a key player in building community capacity, empowerment, and self-reliance. This role requires a broad based skill and knowledge set.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Active at the community level
Experience in customer service, special event management, facility management and operational management in Local Government would be an asset;
Working knowledge to organize community recreation, services and organizations is an asset.
Enhance collaborative economic development and partnership efforts key businesses, tourism, communities and other strategic partners within Calgary regional Partnership
Strengthen region by focusing on “inside out” or bottom up community and economic development
Promote buy local/shop local “Shop smart & shop local”
Point of contact for all recreation services, businesses, organizations and investors
Prepare grants for FCSS; EDTC and other projects in collaboration with the CAO
The CEDO will collaborate with FCSS and Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDTC) to provide achievable and sustainable recommendations on community services and economic development and to find revenue sources that would sustain the employment of the CEDO.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent relationship building skills, able to establish and maintain effective working relationship with staff, elected members, businesses and communities
Build consensus and resolve conflicts with community stakeholders to encourage or facilitate a beneficial resolution.
Ability to speak effectively to a wide variety of audiences, including the general public, community and business groups and to city council
Provide clear and concise reports both verbally and in writing
Knowledge of computerized systems, administrative systems and office technology as required.
Knowledge of local, regional and rural Southern Alberta Economy; Business Licensing, Compliance Campground, Community Hall, Recreation Centre and Economic Development activities
Qualifications:
Diploma in Business Administration or a related discipline
Valid Driver’s License and vehicle in good condition
A.E.D Training and W.H.M.I.S. Certificate would be an asset
