Community Engagement Manager – The Climate Reality Project Canada – Montréal

Position Description
The Community Engagement Manager oversees the organization’s various programs and projects in order to nurture their success and to ensure they benefit each other while aligning with the organization’s strategic plan and overarching objectives. The specific roles of the Community Engagement Manager fall under the following themes.
Firstly, the Community Engagement Manager manages the Leadership Corps program with the objective of ensuring its continuous support, growth, and impact. This entails meeting the needs of all volunteer Climate Reality Leaders (CRL) that may arise and are deemed in line with the core mandate and strategic plan of the Climate Reality Project Canada. Primary tasks include: promoting the Leadership Corps program, recruiting potential CRLs, liaising with existing CRLs, and developing and managing resources for CRLs. Tasks also include keeping CRLs inspired and active by creating opportunities for them to perform Acts of Advocacy, and implementing creative approaches to highlight their successes and bolster their work. This person also works to grow the Leadership Corps engagement by developing various campaigns, with the support of our National Campaign Manager.
The Community Engagement Manager also oversees the Lead Mentor program by guiding Lead Mentors, answering their questions, providing them with any required assistance, and otherwise helping them better support their mentees. Responsibilities also include ensuring that Lead Mentors are kept engaged and motivated by scheduling regular calls with them and finding innovative ways to demonstrate the organization’s appreciation. Finally, they recruit and guide new Lead Mentors when necessary, and keeps all Lead Mentors’ lists organized and up to date.
In Northern Canada, the Territories, the Prairies, Rural Quebec and the Atlantic Provinces, the Community Engagement Manager oversees the Regional Engagement Coordinators and supports them in increasing engagement in their respective regions, and develops new outreach strategies in collaboration with our Lead Mentors and Regional Organizers.
CRPC is part of a cross-sectorial coalition organizing the Climate Dialogues. Coinciding with the dates of the United Nations’ Conference of the Parties, the Climate Dialogues offers a completely free program accessible online led by civil society groups from Francophone Canada and Quebec, aimed at demonstrating a consensus to increase climate ambition in order to meet the Paris Agreement objectives. CRPC’s Community Engagement Manager will be overseeing the initiative, ensuring that the organization’s values and core objectives are uplifted at all the steps of the program.
The Community Engagement Manager supports the Executive Director and Director of Operations in grant applications and fundraising efforts. Tasks are delegated to the Manager as needs arise, and may include: researching grants and potential partners, assisting in the drafting of proposals, and preparing supporting documentation such as reports and summaries of existing and proposed programs. Though this is mainly a support role, the Community Engagement Manager is responsible for preparing and submitting grant applications that are relevant to the projects and programs overseen, and for ensuring adequate stewardship of these funds.
Finally, this person assists the Executive or the Operation Director with any other administrative tasks such as event planning and report drafting.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage the Leadership Corps program:
Identify, establish, and apply, in coordination with the Executive or the Operation Director, the needs and best practices in terms of volunteer engagement, in order to create a positive, loyal and mutually beneficial relationship with them;
Ensure the recruitment, welcoming, orientation, monitoring and appreciation of volunteers for the entirety of the organization;
Develop and nurture significant and long-lasting relationships with CRLs;
Develop a communication strategy and calendar that allows the organization to maintain contact with volunteers across the country;
Respond promptly and adequately to intermittent and recurrent needs of volunteers;
Collect and compile statistical data concerning key performance indicators in relation to CRLs;
Create diverse, innovative and compelling opportunities for CRLs to perform Acts of Advocacy;
Develop continuing education material for volunteers, in relation to the organization’s annual strategic plan;
Provide Climate Reality Leaders with support pertaining to presentations, the use of the Reality Hub portal and its online features, and the resources provided to them;
Develop new programs to grow the Leadership Corps, with impact assessment tools to collect of empirical and qualitative data on the organization’s new initiatives;
Meticulously collect, analyze the above data to identify best practices and to create reports that shed light on the impact of our activities;
Develop the outreach strategy, in coordination with the Executive or the Operation Director, to recruit and engage new volunteers in the Leadership Corps program;
Manage the Lead Mentor program:
Assist Lead Mentors by providing guidance, tools and answers to help them support their mentees;
Keep Lead Mentors engaged and motivated by scheduling regular calls with them and finding innovative ways to demonstrate the organization’s gratitude;
Assist them in the organization of local or regional events for their CRLs;
Recruit, train and guide new Lead Mentors when necessary;
Ensure that all lists are maintained organized and up to date;
Manage the Regional Engagement Coordinators
Assist Regional Engagement Coordinators by providing guidance, tools and answers to help them in their mandate;
Keep Regional Engagement Coordinators engaged and motivated by scheduling regular calls with them, foster collaboration with Lead Mentors and Regional Organizers and finding innovative ways to implement our engagement strategy in the four priority regions;
Assist them in the organization of local or regional outreach and networking initiatives or events;
Recruit, train and guide new Regional Engagement Coordinators when necessary;
Ensure that all reporting tools are up to date and match the expectations of our stakeholders;
Coordinate the Climate Dialogues and related partnerships
Recruit, train and guide new Climate Dialogue Coordinator and Mobilization team;
Oversee the coordination of the Climate Dialogues, to align with the values of collaboration and cross-sector programming;
Support in fundraising and reporting.
Assist the Executive Director Executive or the Operation Director with grant applications and other fundraising efforts to increase the organization’s financial resources, including drafting grant applications and case for support documents, as well as reports to maintain transparency with the organization’s funding partners;
Assist with special event organization, including but not limited to the Climate Leadership Corps Trainings;
Ensure the full provision of the CRPC communications associated with the programs overseen is available in French and English;
Assist with the preparation of quarterly reports and any other required documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:
Graduate studies in environmental sciences, political science, sustainable development or a similar degree.
Minimum 2 years in similar outreach, community engagement, network management or relationship building type role.
Strong management experience, ideally involving volunteer and/or staff coordination.
Fundraising experience preferred.
Having completed a Climate Leadership Corps Training is considered a strong asset.

Skills & Qualifications:
A passion for, and knowledge of, climate change science and solutions is required.
Fully bilingual in French and English; strong written and spoken skills in both languages.
Outstanding leadership and organizational skills.
High level of creativity.
Excellent problem- and conflict- resolution abilities.
Detail-and result-oriented thought.
Extensive experience with Microsoft Office, notably PowerPoint and Word, is required.
Ability to manage/quickly adjust to changing priorities.
Strong data tracking and list management skills. Experience with Salesforce is ideal.
