Communications Coordinator, Shared Platform – Tides Canada – Vancouver, BC

The Opportunity

We are looking for a creative, passionate and innovative individual for this role. As a member of both the Marketing and Communications and Shared Platform teams the Coordinator provides communications expertise to ensure a strong internal communications support for over 150 Tides Canada project staff, and to build up a culture of storytelling and external communications that amplify the impact of this amazing community of changemakers.

Responsibilities:
Coordinate the creation of a communications strategy for the Shared Platform department
Define key audiences, messengers, and associated tone and approach across channels
Copywriting and editing across a wide range of materials
Coordinate department brand resources
Manage and segment contact lists
Coordinate timing, delivery, and content of internal communications
Ensure cohesive and consistent messaging across the shared platform ecosystem (project websites, branded materials, campaigns) and alignment with Tides Canada brand guidelines
Deliver communications that enable coordinated, cohesive operations to the Shared Platform community of 60+ projects
Support ongoing team efforts to improve Shared Platform operations
Coordinate annual employee satisfaction survey
Develop communications plans to accompany change management
Engage project staff for feedback
‘Close the loop’ by reporting back on outcomes to internal audiences
Support in-house content experts to produce resources and materials that are user-friendly and increase Shared Platform project effectiveness
Work closely with Tides Canada leadership team to help craft messaging to project staff
Lead development of training materials with in-house experts (webinars, slide decks, videos, step-by-step guides)
Develop annual series of webinars and a library of training videos as resources for projects
Apply user experience design thinking to improve project onboarding
Contribute communications expertise to develop internal information portal
Amplify Shared Platform and Projects impact stories and successes and promote project activities through social media, e-news and other Tides Canada channels
Advance thought leadership and market the Shared Platform to internal and external audiences by:
Writing and coordinating stories of staff and projects
tracking and promoting project activities on social media
pursuing opportunities for speaking opportunities, podcasts, conferences, media outreach etc.
Marketing shared platform to potential projects
Ensure timely updates of website for Shared Platform project profiles, images, and job postings on tidescanada.org
Build up an image library, story bank, and testimonials for external communications
Ensure Shared Platform Community activation
Manage and create Shared Platform newsletter
Produce content for cross-Platform communications channels
Create content for and update Shared Platform employee portal
Organize department events, primarily online (webinars, townhalls, etc)
Test online collaboration spaces, including seeding content
Identify and support opportunities for project to project sharing and collaboration
Contributed to shared duties of the Marketing and Communication team:
Technical or logistical support for office events
Contribute to office and reception duties
As time and interest allow, participate in working groups and committees
Community-building, outreach, and engagement
Active participant in both Shared Platform and Marketing and Communications team annual planning.
Requirements
This position requires a Communication Coordinator with a strong attention to detail and excellent
organizational and communication skills.

Ideal Candidate Experience & Skills:
2+ years relevant work experience
Experience in the non-profit sector is an asset
Strong writing and copyediting skills
Ability to manage competing demands and deadlines
Graphic design and layout experience with Photoshop and InDesign an asset
Salesforce experience an asset
Familiarity with adult education, Pop Education, or similar is an asset
Quick learner, positive and solutions-oriented attitude, entrepreneurial and collaborative, strong listener, ability to multi-task with minimal supervision
Awareness and commitment to environmental and social justice issues an asset
