Communications Co-Lead – Sierra Club of BC

ABOUT THE ROLE
This is one of two complementary Communications Co-Lead positions that work collaboratively with Development, Campaigns and Education staff. Together, you’ll develop and execute communications strategies in support of Sierra Club BC’s strategic plan. You will work in a non-hierarchical team of equals, based in mutual respect, complementary skillsets and roles, and extensive collaboration.
You can think strategically, write superbly and are skilled at media relations. You know how to translate complicated, nuanced, sometimes technical subject matter into clear, compelling multimedia storytelling. These stories will help engage and inspire others to act and to support Sierra Club BC’s work. Your written work will complement the visual storytelling of the other Communications Co-Lead. You have the ability to communicate with diverse communities, based in intercultural knowledge and understanding, and your own lived experience.

You can co-develop and execute effective, integrated communications strategies. You are highly organized, a skilled planner and project manager, and also tactically nimble when opportunities present themselves. You have a journalist’s nose for a good story and are skilled at pitching to the media and acting as a spokesperson for the organization.
Your work is grounded in a solid knowledge of and commitment to environmental and social justice issues in B.C. You have a strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. You are passionate about bringing positive change to the land and waters known as British Columbia, and all the living beings who call this place home.
For you, cooperation and collaboration are not buzzwords—they are at the core of your values and how you work. You and your team will be responsive to the advice and counsel of the Operations Director. You will work especially closely with the other Communications Co-Lead, the Digital Systems Coordinator and Donor Engagement Coordinator.
Although our office is in Victoria, we encourage applicants willing to work remotely from anywhere in B.C.
