We seek a talented and committed Communications and Marketing professional with strong commitment to detail, excellent communications skills, with corporate and consumer marketing experience to join our organic team. COTA’s Communications and Marketing Manager position is responsible for the Canada Organic Trade Association brand strategy and will develop the overall communications and public affairs strategy. This position will manage all social media, website and communication tools that COTA maintains. The Manager position will lead all communications activity for COTA including corporate communications/media relations, employee communications, sponsorships, events and community activities. This position will work closely with the Executive Director on messaging, media engagement and manage all campaigns.
Compensation will be commensurate with experience ranging from $50,000 – $65,000. This position is full-time and a robust benefits package will be offered to the successful candidate.
Functions:
Responsible for managing a budget and meet communications goals and campaign targets
Write promotional materials, website content, articles, publications and other communication materials
Coordinate and maintain website and social media platforms.
Develop and coordinate Communications and Public Relations strategy for multiple audiences
Craft key messages for specific groups, initiatives or projects
Develop and produce newsletters, press releases and fact sheets
Organize new and innovative ways to communicate and engage member community
Promote ongoing community events and initiatives
Work closely with Member Relations/Business Development, others departments and Executive Director needs
Facilitates program development and implementation work.
Cultivates media attention, responds to crisis media issues, member and program feedback and participates in growing opportunities for COTA
Attend trade shows, fundraising events and meetings to represent COTA. Occasional travel may be required.

Minimum Requirements
Experience:
3-5 years experience in a marketing and communications role.
Post-secondary education in Communications, public relations, journalism, graphic design from a recognized institution or three years of non-profit related work experience. A Masters degree in Communications is an asset.
Demonstrated experience in developing a marketing communications plan including strategy, goals, budget and tactics
Demonstrated experience in developing a media relations strategy, seeking high-level placements in print, broadcast and other venues
Skills/Knowledge:
Excellent bilingual (French and English) written (samples must be provided) and oral skills
Experience in communications strategy, media engagement, website creation and social media platforms (Co-schedule, Youtube, Tiktok, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn)
Exceptional administrative, organizational, and project management skills
Experience in drupal and graphic design (Canva and/or Photoshop)
Excellent ability in organizing group thoughts and translation and identification of next steps.
Excellent relationship management and problem-solving skills.
Must be able to work independently and efficiently, detail oriented, and have ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
Must be able to use MacBook Pro computer and Office 365 Software and programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint)
Ability to think creatively and in a group dynamic.
Experienced in providing superior customer service and be able to work well within a team of association professionals
Assets:
Demonstrated interest in organic and agricultural industry.
