Communication and Policy Coordinator – NWT Association of Communities

The position of Communication and Policy Coordinator is a key one within the NWTAC. A particularly important function of this position is drafting and coordinating the NWTAC’s response and approaches to supporting Community Government initiatives as they relate to Territorial and Federal Programs & Services

Qualifications:
Post-secondary education in Communications, Journalism, Political Science or equivalent.
3 to 5 years professional experience in communications and policy research and analysis.
Excellent spoken and written English: general ability to clearly and concisely express ideas and concepts in written and oral form; specific skills in writing press releases and articles/stories for traditional and electronic media.
The ability to produce analytical and well-presented, correspondence, reports, written speeches and publications.
Understanding of website maintenance
Good interpersonal skills: the ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels, with a sound knowledge and awareness of cultural and language challenges in the north
Knowledge of policy development, government decision-making and approval processes.
Sound analytical and problem-solving skills to conduct research and identify impacts.
