Climate Change Project Officer – ICLEI Canada – Montreal

Job Description
The climate change project officer will provide technical support for the development of corporate and community inventories of GHG emissions, the development of action plans and municipal energy plans and the development of plans to adapt to changes. climatic conditions.
The climate change project officer will report to the manager of the Quebec office of ICLEI Canada.

Responsibilities
Support local governments that are members of the Building Adaptive and Resilient Communities program and the Partners in climate protection program in carrying out the main stages of adaptation planning and energy planning;
Provide support to staff in the exploration and development of new funding opportunities for various programs and projects in the fields of energy, adaptation to climate change and resilience;
Contribute to the development of tools for energy planning and adaptation to climate change planning for local governments;
Design and conduct workshops and webinars, and present ICLEI Canada projects at various events;
Research various international programs to ensure that ICLEI Canada programs are continuously relevant and innovative;
Support the ICLEI Canada team and its partners in the development and realization of projects for various clients or members.

Basic qualifications:
University degree in environment, town planning, sustainable development or any other related discipline
Knowledge and practical experience in sustainable development
One to three years of relevant professional experience
Strong oral and written communication skills
Oral and written bilingualism (French / English) required
Research skills and analytical skills
Rigor and precision in the processing of quantitative data
Having already carried out GHG inventories for an organization, an asset.
Ability to excel in a fast paced, constantly changing and very dynamic environment
Be able to travel in Canada and abroad as required

Other qualifications sought:
Knowledge of files related to climate change at local and provincial levels (Quebec)
Experience working with non-profit organizations
Experience working with local governments
Experience in project coordination or management
Experience in collecting, processing and analyzing spatial data
Experience in database design, management and maintenance
Location : Montreal (Quebec, Canada)

Duration: One year from the date of signature of the contract
Salary : annual of $ 37,000, depending on experience.
Vacation: Three weeks paid vacation for a one year contract
Possibility of hiring full-time and permanently at the end of the mandate to replace maternity leave.
