Tourism Nova Scotia (TNS) is a new provincial crown corporation created for the purpose of maximizing the value of tourism to the economy of Nova Scotia (Tourism Nova Scotia Act). TNS’ primary function is marketing and bringing new visitors to Nova Scotia, and is specifically focused on the goal of doubling tourism revenue to $4B by 2024 (Now or Never Report). The corporation is led by a private sector Board of Directors, in line with a Canadian best practice for bringing business acumen to the table to help lead destination marketing.
TNS is looking for a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) who is excited about the opportunity to lead efforts to double tourism revenues, who is not daunted by the magnitude of the task, who can focus the efforts of the organization, and who can sell the changes required to our diverse stakeholder community.
The CEO provides executive leadership by guiding all areas of the organization and is ultimately responsible for the execution of the corporation’s mandate. Reporting to the Board of Directors and in accordance with the direction and established targets set by the Board, the CEO is responsible for the strategic direction, planning, design, implementation and evaluation of all functions under the mandate of the province’s tourism organization.
The successful applicant will be a proven C-level executive, with strong marketing, business and communications acumen, experience with public and private sector accountability, and a working knowledge of international markets.
