Make-A-Wish, Atlantic Provinces

Make-A-Wish Foundation of Canada, through its eight regional chapters, grants the personal and special wishes of children in Canada – ages 3 to 17 – who have life-threatening medical conditions.

In Atlantic Canada, the organization is now seeking an innovative leader who will be responsible for all programs and services, staff and volunteers, strategic planning, operations, administration, external relations, and finance.

What qualities are needed in this role?
First and foremost, you are a fundraising professional with an impressive track record of implementing major fundraising programs. Your experience touches all aspects of fundraising including annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, individual gifts, direct mail and events. To support your work, you understand the value in maintaining positive relationships with prospects, donors, volunteers, participants, and community partners.

In concert with the Board, you are skillful at building long-term strategic plans and annual operational plans. You are knowledgeable of good governance practices and have enjoyed healthy relationships with all Boards and committees with whom you have worked. In particular, you are effective at building and stewarding relationships with individuals who bring value to the organization and achieve targets.

Operationally, you build high-performing teams of staff and volunteers to work with you and you instill a culture of excellence with these teams through leading by example. You understand both financial and non-financial performance metrics and you maintain reporting systems to ensure these targets are measured and achieved.

Externally, you must be comfortable in a highly-visible public relations capacity as you serve as the “face” of the organization and engage with its many external stakeholders such as funding partners, media, community groups, governments, and the general public.
