Chef de Mission – Team Nova Scotia

Sport Nova Scotia is seeking a strong leader, effective motivator, and skilled manager to be the Chef de Mission of Team Nova Scotia for the 2017 Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg, Manitoba. This is a part-time position that reports to Sport Nova Scotia’s Canada Games Management Committee (CGMC).

The Chef de Mission is the head of delegation for Team Nova Scotia’s contingent of athletes, coaches and managers who represent the province at the Canada Games. The Chef de Mission will lead a team of Mission Staff who liaise with the host society and work prior to, during and after the Games to support and promote Team Nova Scotia. The Mission Staff will manage logistics, disseminate information, organize events, handle administrative tasks and trouble shoot where necessary to ensure that our athletes, coaches and managers can concentrate on their competitions and have a positive experience while at the Games.

The Chef de Mission for Team Nova Scotia will provide leadership to the volunteers and the staff that compose Team Nova Scotia. Specifically, the Chef de Mission will be responsible for: ceremony and presiding, communications and facilitations, promotion, organization and guidance, and human resource management of the mission staff. The Chef de Mission will be the primary spokesperson for Team Nova Scotia.

The ideal candidate will have an accomplished sport / sport administration background, familiarity with the Canada Games and amateur sport in Nova Scotia, and previous experience as mission staff for a multi-sport games.
