The Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS) is Canada’s preeminent, national community-based voice for public wilderness protection. Since 1963 CPAWS has taken a lead role in establishing two-thirds of Canada’s protected wild spaces—an area over seven times the size of Nova Scotia. In Manitoba, CPAWS works with rights-holders and stakeholders on the landscape to identify and realise opportunities for large scale Boreal conservation.
Position Description
The Manitoba chapter of the Canadian Parks & Wilderness Society is seeking a full time Chapter Coordinator out of our Winnipeg office!
The Chapter Coordinator position offers a diversity of responsibilities that will allow you to exercise your current skills while learning about and tangibly contributing to our consensus seeking approach to Boreal conservation. Reporting to the Executive Director and working closely with the Communications Coordinator and an incredible team of volunteers, you will facilitate the smooth operation of our Boreal conservation campaign initiatives while helping to create broad public awareness and support for our conservation initiatives in Manitoba. You will be responsible for:
Management of chapter finances through the maintenance of project budgets, bookkeeping, invoice payment, scheduling of grant proposals and reports and refinement of record keeping systems.
Campaign public education activities through social media and coordination of print and web outreach and educational materials including an annual fundraising calendar; coordinating in person public outreach activities for volunteers and interns; provides campaign support in the form of strategic planning, research and other duties as requested.
Office operations including maintaining accurate records of donor, rights-holder and stakeholder communications.
Board of Directors oversight through the provision of meeting documents for board review, facilitation of the chapter fund development committee and donor contact strategy.
The position will include other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate possesses the following;
Extensive experience and comfort with financial management including experience with Quickbooks® or other standard book keeping software
Exceptional organizational and administrative abilities
Effective multitasking and efficient priority setting skills
Project management skills
Strong written and oral communications skills
Passion for and knowledge of Boreal conservation issues
Personable an outgoing demeanor
Salary: Starting at $40,000 annually. Benefits included after 3 months.
