Carpenter – Leaf House Small Space Design and Build – Whitehorse

Leaf House Small Space Design and Build is looking for a carpenter to join an existing crew on a unique Whitehorse based project from August to September. The project is four 300ft2 passive solar units, super insulated with dense-pack cellulose and straw bales. The buildings have some interesting features, including concrete countertops, shou sugi-ban charred siding, American Clay plaster, FSC certified wood, and other unique green-building construction techniques.
The units are situated on granite rocks in a treed lot in the City of Whitehorse. Work will include a variety of tasks, including interior finishing, siding, insulating, building boardwalks and custom decks, and some more custom and artistic projects such as a sauna.

Experience,
a range of carpentry skills, competency with home construction, and self-direction is required. You don’t necessarily need your red seal, but you do need to be able to know how to build a house and complete a variety of carpentry tasks. There is some flexibility with hours, and tenting on site for accomodation may be an option.
