The Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS) is Canada’s pre-eminent, national community-based voice for public wilderness protection. Since 1963 CPAWS has taken a lead role in establishing two-thirds of Canada’s protected wild spaces — an area over seven times the size of Nova Scotia.
Position Description
The Winnipeg based Campaign Outreach Coordinators will be responsible for organizing and executing educational table displays in the community and communicating with the public at special events and locations to inspire and broaden support for our Boreal forest and woodland caribou conservation campaigns. The summer interns will also advance and maintain social networking tools which showcase opportunities for public involvement in conservation efforts. This position includes recruitment and management of dedicated volunteers, chapter support in fund development and member recruitment and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Strong written and oral communication skills
Outgoing, energetic and approachable
Interest in a flexible schedule which will include evenings and weekends
Knowledge of social networking avenues and public outreach
Educational background or knowledge in environmental issues and/or marketing and communications
An understanding of and sensitivity to cultural issues
Exceptionally organized
Works well independently and as part of a group
Enjoys working in the great outdoors!
Valid driver’s license and vehicle an asset
