Campaign Engagement Coordinator – Toronto Environmental Alliance – Toronto, Ontario

Campaign Engagement Coordinator

The Toronto Environmental Alliance is seeking a Campaign Engagement Coordinator.

Who We Are:

TEA was founded in 1988. Our mandate is to promote a greener Toronto for all. We work with concerned individuals and grassroots organizations, professionals and workers, as well as elected officials, encouraging the participation of local people on local issues. TEA envisions Toronto as a green, healthy and equitable city with economic activity that sustains our environment.

TEA is recognized locally and nationally for our municipal work on climate change, waste reduction, toxics reduction, transit, Greenbelt protection, energy efficiency and green power — issues we believe are critical to the health and well-being of Toronto residents. Our collaborations with the community (eg. community groups, local labour groups, small businesses, anti-poverty groups) are cherished and key to our past and future successes.

The Position:

TEA is looking for a Campaign Engagement Coordinator, an evolving position that has at its core supporting TEA’s campaigns and projects. This person will coordinate key volunteers, TEA supporters, community leaders and the public to engage in our campaign and project activities, both online and in person.

We also want someone who is an effective team player and takes the initiative to lead when required.

The successful candidate will gain exposure to innovative engagement organizing methods supporting cutting edge campaigns and projects. TEA’s headquarters is a bright open concept office space in downtown Toronto, but our staff travel all over the city to engage with our supporters in Etobicoke, North York and Scarborough.

This is a 6-month contract which we hope to renew for at least another year, pending funding. This person will work closely with TEA’s campaigners and fundraising team.

Responsibilities:

Plays a key role with campaigners to develop targeted campaign messaging and materials to be used at a neighbourhood level in various neighbourhoods across the city.
Plays a key role with Campaigners to create content for the website and social media to support campaign goals.

Recruits and manages volunteers to assist in campaign outreach.
Experiments with different engagement techniques aimed at inspiring people to participate in campaign activities.
Compiles metrics to help campaigners understand the performance of key campaign tools.

After 6 months, the responsibilities for this position will be reviewed and updated.

Qualifications:

Demonstrated program/project management experience
Experience recruiting, training and retaining volunteers
Understanding of municipal politics (Toronto experience is a definite asset)
Experience in community engagement and strategic communications
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Experience with social media, NationBuilder or other online engagement tools
A post secondary education and a second language are definite assets

Terms of employment:

This is a full-time 6 month position, with a possibility of a 1-year renewal pending funding. Compensation will be based on the skills, experience and qualifications of the successful candidate and will be in the range of $36,000 to $42,000 per year, pro-rated.

Flexible hours, evening and weekend work is needed. Travel throughout the city.
