Campaign Coordinator – My Sea to Sky – BC

Job Description:
The purpose of this one-year contract is to take a lead role to coordinate My Sea to Sky’s campaign to #StopWoodfibreLNG, and help to fulfill the strategic goals below to:
Coordinate and collaborate with partner organizations to change the conversation on LNG and debunk industry propaganda and greenwashing.
Empower and mobilize our community to take action at critical moments to build political pressure to stop Woodfibre LNG.
Research and highlight concerns about Woodfibre LNG with key decision makers.
This position reports directly to the Executive Director of My Sea to Sky.

Responsibilities:
Create, implement, and evaluate campaign strategies
Work with the Executive Team to develop innovative campaign strategies that include targets for organizing tactics, volunteer recruitment, and training.
Develop communication plans
Work with partner organizations to develop a joint communications plan.
Create social media graphics/videos.
Coordinate media relations.
Coordinate and collaborate with partner organizations
Coordinate meetings with partner organizations and support implementation of shared communications plans.
Develop relationships and a plan to engage and support First Nations leadership.
Develop and support an online volunteer team
Develop and train volunteers in ways they can support our campaigns online.
Seek opportunities to deepen our organizing through ongoing volunteer leadership development, volunteer team growth, training and coaching.
Create resources that are well-researched, effectively messaged and follow widely accepted best practices for organizing.
Coordinate political engagement across BC
Develop a toolkit to help volunteers to engage with local, provincial, and federal government.
Support volunteer engagement with elected officials.

Required skills & attributes:
Strategic thinking: the ability to assess a situation and identify compelling, creative campaign opportunities that will have the biggest impact.
Project management: the ability to prioritize multiple projects at once, and re-prioritize when needed to enable our campaigns to be effective and responsive. Organized, creative, and resourceful.
Communication + synthesis: the ability to think through complex ideas and communicate them simply and clearly. Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, listening).
Volunteer management: experience coordinating and training teams of volunteers and building volunteer capacity.
Government relations: a solid understanding of the Canadian political landscape, and how to influence local, provincial, and federal policy.
Problem solving skills: assess and understand complex problems, and proactively identify possible solutions.
Interpersonal skills: the ability to deal with a diverse range of people, inspire and motivate others, and build strong, collaborative relationships. You are friendly, self-motivated, patient, confident, and professional.
Tech savvy: a strong aptitude for technological tools, and a willingness to learn and use new systems. Have a solid working knowledge of social media, google docs, microsoft office, etc.
Self-motivated: the ability to work autonomously on a range of varied tasks and projects, and take initiative to get the job done.
Committed to personal growth and learning: willing to learn through reflection, evaluation, and by giving and receiving feedback.
Aligned with My Sea to Sky’s mission, vision, and values: you are passionate about creating change on progressive issues, specifically climate change, and social and environmental justice;

Bonus points for:
Experience in leading successful and impactful campaigns.
Experience using NationBuilder or similar software platforms for data management.
Effective mentorship skills, enabling others to succeed.
Graphic design skills.
Media or marketing experience.
Work with Indigenous communities or leadership.
Decolonization training.
Deep relationships with other community organizers, non-profit organizations, and advocacy groups.

Based in the Lower Mainland, working from home.
Hours:
32 hours per week for 48 weeks.
Flexible on days & hours (may require some work on weekends), working remotely from home. This is a fixed term contract position, until 30 June 2021. There is a possibility of contract renewal.

Compensation:
$28.00/hour plus benefits
