The Development and Regulatory Enforcement Services Department with the City of Chilliwack, a growing and vibrant community of 85,000 located 100 kilometres east of Vancouver, is seeking dynamic individuals to fill the position of Bylaw Enforcement Officer.

In this exciting role in Development and Regulatory Enforcement Services, you will assist management to achieve an efficient operation in the Bylaw Enforcement Section of the Department through reliable performance of inspectional, regulatory and clerical duties, observing and complying with municipal policies and ensuring the safety and security of confidential material pertaining to the Department’s operations.
You have post-secondary education in Criminology or Bylaw Enforcement training through the Justice Institute Program, or a recognized equivalent, as well as a working knowledge of inspectional and investigative work. You are able to follow the bylaws, statutes, ordinances and regulations related to the municipality; enforce applicable bylaws and regulations effectively and with impartiality and sound judgement; and, able to prepare and present evidence in court.
In addition, this unionized position requires a valid BC driver’s license.
You will be required to work evenings and weekends and the duration of this position can last up to one year, or shorter, based on operational needs. The hourly rate is $29.50 to $34.70 and we offer a great work environment that prides itself on employee satisfaction.
