GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Translate, edit and proofread a variety of documents from English into French (and French to English to a lesser extent) considering technical and industry-specific concepts and terminologies.
Ensure that translations are complete and accurate and that there are no additions/omissions to the original text, the original meaning or the original feeling and intent.
Edit all print screens in documentation for their French version in Blackbaud CRM application.
Assist with translation projects and be responsible for tracking all components/documents to successful completion.
Adapt translations as required according to subject matter and target group. This may include appropriate truncation of words/phrases that cannot be accommodated in a prescribed field size and balance the truncation with end user understanding. Establish word/phrase truncation standards for the application as required.
Clarify with the originators of documents the original meaning, feeling and intent of text to be translated.
Edit / Proofread existing Working Instruction Documents (WID) & Trainings Material.
Compile information, such as technical terms used, into glossaries and terminology databases to be used in translations
Contributes to a healthy and safe working environment.
Performs other duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS
The minimum qualifications for this position are post secondary education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution and 1-3 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
The Bilingual Support Coordinator must be 100 percent fluent in French and English and.
Exceptional organizational and time management skills
Demonstrated problem solving ability and hands-on translation experience
Meticulous attention to detail and a high level of sustained concentration
Accuracy in collecting, storing and retrieving information is essential
High level of proficiency and accuracy in Microsoft Office software applications, especially Word.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and French required
Ability to effectively develop strong cross-functional working relationships, evidenced by a track record of teamwork and collegiality, building relationships within and beyond the Philanthropy department
Ability to work effectively in a fast paced and changing environment with multiple conflicting demands
Strong commitment to skills development and learning
Committed to the Principals of the Red Cross Movement
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is either work from a Red Cross Office or can be done remotely.
Most of this work will be performed in a safe and clean environment.
Please note that there is no relocation package for this position.
