Remuneration: CAD 37,500 – 47,499 for level 3; CAD 47,500 – 57,499 for level 4
POSITION PURPOSE & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Analyst supports the global Advisory Services team in its mission to provide a high-level of service quality to its clients, through the execution of responsible investment and sustainability-related projects. More specifically, the Analyst will support and enhance Sustainalytics’ Carbon Suite.
Key responsibilities include:
Support the delivery of Carbon Suite to a variety of clients, namely investors, index providers, and non-government organizations;
Contribute to the development of methodologies and research frameworks to enhance Sustainalytics Carbon Suite;
Research and analyze best practices in corporate carbon measurement and disclosure;
Develop knowledge and expertise about carbon related issues, risks and trends across a variety of sectors and apply critical thinking and analytical skills to derive meaningful conclusions from research;
Support the sales and marketing team in business development and deliverables related to carbon;
Work towards developing deep expertise in carbon related investment decisions and strategies. Stay up to date on current and emerging trends, issues, drivers, risks and opportunities, key players, best practice, the regulatory landscape, etc.
Prepare high-quality deliverables for clients that present information in a compelling fashion (making appropriate use of charts and tables);
Develop capacity to act as a trusted advisor to clients on carbon;
Help to ensure that projects are managed and executed in accordance with Sustainalytics’ Project Management Office (PMO) processes, and are delivered on-time, on-budget, and to a high-level of quality;
Liaise with and develop relationships with colleagues and other teams across a global network of offices;
Present on sustainability topics both internally (e.g., training, brownbag lunches) and externally (e.g., client workshops and presentations, webinars, conferences and events);
QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in related discipline (environment, business, economics) or Bachelor’s degree in related discipline with a minimum 2 to 3 years relevant experience
Understanding of and strong interest in carbon issues in sustainable development and corporate sustainability
Certification under Canadian Standards Association (CSA) GHG-IQ considered an asset.
Completion of courses through the Greenhouse Gas Management Institute considered an asset.
Knowledge of, or experience applying widely accepted greenhouse gas accounting protocols and frameworks, such as the GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard, PAS 2050 or ISO 14064.
Understanding of business strategy and operations specifically relating to carbon.
Understanding of and strong interest in the intersection of business and sustainability
Understanding of a broad array of sustainability issues and topics (e.g., climate change, water, human rights, corruption, etc.)
Strong interest in the financial services industry and SRI/RI market
Knowledge of project management
Client relationship skills
Excellent oral and written English language skills
Strong research, analytical, and business writing skills
Meticulousness and attentiveness to detail
Flexibility and adaptability
Resourceful and independent
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint; Strong Excel skills
