Qualifications:
Interest in community development
Knowledge of office procedures
General computer skills
Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
Familiarity and experience with a broad array of social media and virtual communication tools
Ability to work well with management, board, staff, volunteers and others
Ability to take direction well and to show initiative
Experience working, studying, or collaborating with people from diverse cultures and economic backgrounds
Familiarity with the Kitsilano neighbourhood and the Westside an asset
Graphic design skills an asset
Basic bookkeeping skills an asset (e.g. preparing invoices)
Website maintenance and upgrades – technical experience a plus
Projects and tasks may include:
General administrative tasks
Helping organize, schedule, and promote Village Vancouver programs and projects
Facilitating community outreach and maintaining mailing lists
Assisting in preparing annual report
Creating content for and producing the monthly newsletter and promotional materials
Creating seed packet templates
Tabling at Village Vancouver booths at street fairs, festivals, farmers markets, or other community gatherings
Blogging about Village Vancouver programs and activities
Updating our website (e.g. keeping the events calendar up to date)
Updating workshop descriptions, create Village Vancouver Community Centre and instructor workshop schedule lists
Preparing invoices and other basic bookkeeping
Helping with activities, workshops, and events (such as the Westside Food Festival)
Participating in grant writing
Working on membership drives
Other tasks as needed
Rate of pay: $18.45 per hour + 4% in lieu of vacation
Job duration and hours: 30 hours/week for 9 weeks, from May 15, 2023 to July 15, 2023. (Start and end dates may be adjusted.) Monday-Friday 10 am-4:30 pm, including a ½ hour lunch break. Hours may occasionally vary.
Location: Field House McBride Park (Kitsilano, Vancouver), and remotely
Accessibility: The Field House is not wheelchair accessible.
