Position: Full Time
Remuneration: Salary (Candidate Dependant)

In conjunction with the Safety Advisor, to oversee the maintenance of the Safety Program to insure that the company and its employees are working to the requirements of the laws of all regulatory bodies, company and client safety policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
Conduct shop & site safety inspections
Train new-hires in the company’s OH&S Program
On going training of all employees in the company’s’ OH&S Program.
Scheduling of outside training for employees.
Participate in & provide guidance to, the company JOHS Committee
Maintain a computerized database, and associated hardcopy files of all employee training and any safety related matters.
Liaise with Client Safety Representatives to establish safety requirements for projects.
Compilation of documents needed to produce computerized & hardcopy Safety Documentation Packages for Clients.
Report all OH&S related matters to Executive Management Team.
Requirements:
Has a Certificate in OH&S from a recognized institution.(Such as NSCC or NSCSA)
Has training and/or 3-5 years’ experience in the management of a Safety Program.
Has the ability to recognize safety hazards within the work place.
Has the capability to interact with employees, while maintaining the appropriate levels of respect required to enforce the safety program.
Has the capacity to cope with changing circumstances & situations and the ability to manage priorities and multi task.
Is able to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
Has the initiative to put in the time it takes to implement and maintain the program.
Holds a current driver’s license.
We are a company that works to the needs of its clients, the majority of whom are not Monday to Friday, 9-5 operations. Therefore our Safety Supervisor will be required to:
Have flexibility in working hours.
Travel within the HRM & occasional travel to other N.S. locations (company provided vehicle & accommodations)
Have the ability to be able to board large vessels (not afraid of heights) & work within close quarters.
