The Opportunity
Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC), Canada’s leader in wetland conservation, is seeking an experienced policy analyst to join our team in Ottawa.
In this position, you will identify, analyze, and implement programs, policy and legislative opportunities that will impact DUC’s mission. You will coordinate your efforts with staff and volunteers across the country to further our conservation cause.
You possess strong analytical, writing, organizational and interpersonal skills. You have demonstrated understanding of both the federal legislative and policy development process and are skilled in building and fostering
relationships.
You are an enthusiastic team player with strong emotional intelligence and a self-starter who can work cross-functionally. You are capable of taking calculated risks and enjoy thinking outside the box.
Your five to ten years of experience working in the public policy field and experience working in or with industry and the public sector make you the ideal candidate for this position.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in public administration, economics, political science or a related field; a Master’s degree is considered a strong asset.
Well-developed knowledge of the federal public policy process including federal, territorial, provincial and municipal jurisdictions.
Well-developed knowledge of the legislative process and the operational structure of the Federal government.
Previous experience working with volunteers.
Highly-developed research, writing and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to travel throughout Canada.
Previous experience working on legislative and policy matters at the federal level for a conservation/ environmental organization or within the federal government would be considered an asset.
Must have a passion for conservation.
