North Vancouver District Public Library is a community–inspired library serving the almost 90,000 residents of the District of North Vancouver. NVDPL is currently recruiting an exempt Community Connections Manager who is eager to work in a demanding, high-paced public library environment that is undergoing major change and visionary service development. You will provide leadership in sustaining purposeful connections with community partners; connect, consult and collaborate with community members in order to understand community needs and to inform the direction of library services and policies; provide leadership in the provision of community-centred library service and the promotion and delivery of library services in the community; expand the community-centred approach, and provide meaningful direction to the library in the areas of services for children and families and home library service.
Other exciting aspects of the role will include: leading innovative in-house and outreach service models; planning, preparation and delivery of community connection strategies; leading community partners’ use of the library as a community learning and sharing platform; sponsoring learning and project teams around services to children, families, outreach and community discussion groups; leading children’s services including connections with schools, daycares, services providers; creating a culture of partnership for delivering services to the community; monitoring demographic trends; evaluating outreach service and engagement initiatives and actions; representing the library as a service provider on community boards and at functions; participating in the development of Library policies, and participating in the orientation and training plans of new staff.
Working with the Library Director and a highly networked leadership team, you will actively foster an environment of collegiality, respect, and teamwork that facilitates staff to accomplish the goals of the organization.
Your qualifications include a Master of Library Science/Master of Library and Information Science degree or equivalent from an ALA-accredited program, along with a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience. Your demonstrated professionalism; track record of designing and implementing innovation, community-focused service models, along with your exceptional people skills, will help ensure your success in this position.
