About ForestEthics Advocacy Association
ForestEthics Advocacy Association (FEA) was founded in April of 2012 to protect the rights of Canadians and Canada’s environment. In an atmosphere defined by government intimidation of environmental charities opposed to tar sands expansion and big oil interests, FEA was created to be an independent leading voice of opposition.
Since our founding just two and half years ago, we have taken on the federal government in a national lawsuit against the Line 9 pipeline, sued Kinder Morgan and Enbridge, led thousands of people in multiple anti-pipeline rallies in Vancouver, stood alongside frontline First Nations in solidarity, and held Enbridge and Kinder Morgan directly responsible for their impact on communities and our environment.
FEA is part of a three-member coalition including ForestEthics Solutions Society and ForestEthics US, (founded in 2000.) As a coalition we hold corporations and governments accountable for destructive environmental practices; we create solutions that protect community health, our climate, and our wild places; and we win. We have shifted hundreds of millions of dollars towards more responsible purchasing, and working in collaboration with allies, we have secured protection for 65 million acres of wilderness. Today, we are a leading voice in the fight to stop dangerous extreme oil pipelines and oil trains. Alongside that work, we are fighting to protect Canada’s Boreal Forest and to shut down phony ‘eco labels’ that threaten all forests and mislead consumers.
