The City of Penticton has a vacancy for a Community Policing Coordinator to work at the Penticton RCMP Detachment.
We are seeking a leader in Crime Prevention Community Policing practices. This position is a key member of our Community Policing Unit and the successful candidate will be involved in developing and delivering various Community Policing programs in the South Okanagan, and responsible for representing the RCMP with a variety of community groups in support of mental health, youth and substance abuse issues. Programs supported include youth initiatives and direct management of four restorative justice programs including training and support of volunteer facilitators. The successful candidate will also partner with the Aboriginal Justice Strategy local Restorative Justice program.
The successful applicant will:
Have a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology or Social Sciences or equivalent combination of education and experience in policing
Be flexible, project-oriented and collaborative
Have excellent organization and communication skills
Have proven experience with volunteer management and conflict resolution
Have a valid BC driver’s license
Experience in grant writing would be an asset.
Applicants must obtain and maintain an RCMP Reliability Security Clearance.
The wage for this exempt position is $50,277 to $60,333 per annum, plus a comprehensive benefits plan and pension.
