Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Salvation Army London Centre of Hope Cook is responsible for preparing and serve all meals required on his/her shift according to the menu provided.

Perform other position related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Secondary School Diploma; diploma/education in food services is an asset
Minimum two years-experience in residential cooking
Good knowledge of nutrition and safe food handling
Excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to follow detailed instructions
Ability to work independently
Must be physically able to work long periods of time on their feet and to lift objects up to 50 lbs.
First Aid/CPR
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training preferred
Understanding of, support for and commitment to the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army and a willingness to adhere to them
Provide an original copy of a Criminal Records Check with vulnerable sector screening secured through either the national Canadian Police Information Centre or through a local police detachment; Note: A satisfactory criminal background check is required
Screening through The Salvation Army Abuse Registry
Demonstrated ability to work independently
Experience in a residential facility is an asset
Provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening (where applicable) that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required. The screening is secured either through the National Canadian Policy Information Centre (CPIC) or through a local police detachment.

May require screening through The Salvation Army Abuse Registry.

Support for and an understanding of the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada.

NOTE: Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered

Normal Hours of Work: on call, relief position, no guaranteed hours, work offered as per operational requirements.
