Regular Full-Time (40 hours per week)
The City of White Rock is a unique, ocean-side community of 20,000 citizens known for its sunny weather, expansive beach, historic pier, delightful restaurants, and sense of community. The City is located half an hour south of Vancouver on the shore of Semiahmoo Bay.
The City seeks an experienced, highly capable and responsible individual to fill the positon of Supervisor, Parks Maintenance & Irrigation. Reporting to the Manager, Operations, you will supervise the work of both employees and contractors and will participate in the City’s maintenance of irrigation systems and parks areas. As part of your irrigation duties, you will check irrigation system operations including the testing of backflow preventers, perform a variety of maintenance and repair tasks, overhaul and rebuild controls, valves and sprinklers and make recommendation on system design and modification. As part of your parks duties, you will inspect, evaluate and maintain turf areas, perform maintenance and construction work in municipal parks, including conducting playground inspections. Your supervisory duties will include assigning, reviewing and participating in the work of one or more crews who are engaged in park area, turf and playground construction, maintenance tasks and irrigation work. You will also participate in employee selection and provide training and input on employee performance.
Requirements:
Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by formal training in design and repair of irrigation systems and in turf maintenance; plus considerable related experience including supervisory and safety management experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Possess a current and valid: BC Low Energy Systems Certificate; BCWWA Cross Connection Certificate; BC Pesticide Application License; and BC Class 5 driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
A demonstrated ability to perform physical manual work in all types of weather is required.
Shortlisted candidates must successfully pass a Police Information Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check.
The annual wage of this position is $69,602 with comprehensive benefits offered.
