Senior Building Inspector / Bylaw Compliance Officer – Town of Ladysmith – Ladysmith, BC

We are currently seeking a permanent full-time Senior Building Inspector/Bylaw Compliance Officer to work in our Development Services Department. Reporting to the Director of Development Services, the Senior Building Inspector/Bylaw Compliance Officer will take the lead role in the inspection, review and processing of building permit applications for buildings of all categories. The incumbent will also be responsible for providing bylaw compliance for all Town of Ladysmith Departments.

Applicants must possess an Interprovincial Trades Qualification in Carpentry or Plumbing or a Diploma from a recognized technical institute in Building Technology. Also required is Level II Certification with the Building Officials’ Association of BC, Bylaw Compliance, Enforcement and Investigations Skills Level I and be a member in good standing with the provincial Building Officials’ Association of BC. A minimum of five years’ experience in a Local Government building department performing building/plumbing inspections, including three years supervisory experience. Certification in Community Energy Management or as an Energy Auditor or Energy Manager would be an asset.

This is a permanent full time Union position (40 hours per week) with an annual wage of $77,334 ($37.18/hour subject to JE) The position offers an attractive benefits package as provided within the Collective Agreement between the Town of Ladysmith and the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 401.
