The City of Nanaimo is seeking a temporary part-time Recreation Leader III. Under the supervision of a Recreation Coordinator, the incumbent will provide leadership and coordination of the LIT and Quest Programs.

Applicants must have completed Grade 12 and have three months of supervisory experience along with one year of experience in instruction and planning of programs in a recreational environment, including working with children (ages 12 to 18).  Possession of a valid Class 5 Drivers License and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check are required.  Applicants must also have a valid Emergency or Standard First Aid and CPR “C” or “B” certificate from Red Cross or St. John Ambulance.  Online certifications will not be accepted.

This is a unionized position, $21.13 per hour (Jan 2015 Rate).  Hours of work will be 8 – 10 hours per week.  Shift work will be involved with this position (extensive weekend and evening work will be required).  It is anticipated this vacancy will be from October 1, 2015 to April 1, 2016.
