Public Service Commissioner – Yukon Government

If you are a highly experienced executive willing to provide senior leadership, advice and direction as Deputy Head of the Public Service Commission, seize this opportunity to join the Public Service Commission and support the development of Aboriginal and other employees.

The Public Service Commission is a central agency with a mandate to provide human resource direction, advice and support services to Yukon government departments and employees, to act as the employer on behalf of the Yukon government, and to establish and maintain human resource legislation, policies and collective agreements.

In this term/temporary full-time role, you will be responsible for promoting and safeguarding a merit-based, representative, and non-partisan public service; managing the corporate human resource processes to promote a capable, innovative and diverse workforce; and ensuring the Public Service Commission is operated in an effective and efficient manner.

Essential Qualifications

Candidates must have:
Completion of post-secondary education in public or business administration, human resource management, law, or other related field;
Extensive executive management experience in the public sector, providing corporate oversight and direction in the implementation and execution of policies, frameworks and agreements;
Experience developing strategic recommendations, implementing integrated solutions and strategies, and providing advice to all levels of management;
Demonstrated competencies in leadership, effective management, negotiations, change management, collaboration and human resource management; and
Experience developing and fostering relationships and working collaboratively with individuals and organizational clients.

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Suitability
The ideal candidate is a highly motivated strategic leader who has proven skills developing and implementing programs and services; will welcome the challenge of leading a diverse and complex team in creating change; demonstrates a commitment to building and working collaboratively with departments; who will give non-partisan advice to the government of day on human resource management issues; and who has demonstrated integrity and authenticity.
