The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) is currently accepting applications from individuals interested in a career as a Police Officer. You must be of high moral and ethical character. Police Officer positions with the RNC are considered “Positions of Trust” and require integrity and a high ethical standard.
Applicants must meet RNC employment standards and participate in a multi-step selection process. The recruitment standards are high and the selection process is competitive, but fair and achievable. Candidates must demonstrate an interest in policing work and be able to project an image of a positive police role model to the community. Candidates must demonstrate effective communication, leadership, problem-solving, teamwork, interpersonal, and stress management skills. As well, candidates must demonstrate initiative, tenacity, and deportment. Knowledge of policing issues is considered an asset.
If successful in the selection process you will be required to enroll in and complete the Police Studies Diploma Program at Memorial University in September 2016. Upon successful completion of the Diploma Program, candidates will be eligible for employment at the RNC. If you are offered employment you may be assigned to any of the RNC detachments (St. John’s, Corner Brook, Labrador/Wabush, and Churchill Falls) or to any other location that in the future, may be within the jurisdiction of the RNC.
