The Strathcona Regional District has a unique exempt one-year term position for an individual who is interested in applying his/her varied experience and skills in the field of land use planning, parks and facilities planning, and operations. This position has the potential to become a permanent full time position.
The Planner II performs technical work in land use and parks planning as provided to the electoral areas of the Regional District. This position has a strong focus on the development of regulatory and long range plans; creation of official community plans, planning bylaws and policies; preparation of long range strategic parks and greenways plans; and the creation and finalization of staff reports. Other responsibilities include overseeing projects, public processes and programs; seasonal work plans for SRD parks, greenways, wharves and facilities; and administering contracts for work within the parks and facilities budget.
The successful applicant is able to work independently as well as in a team environment; is a logical and analytical thinker in problem-solving situations; has superior public relations, interpersonal, communication, organizational and leadership skills.
The successful candidate will have a related degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with a minimum of one year industry related experience (or equivalent combination).
