Temporary Full Time (24-months, 35 hours per week)
The City of White Rock is a unique, ocean-side community of 20,000 citizens known for its sunny weather, expansive beach, historic pier, delightful restaurants, and sense of community. The City is located half an hour south of Vancouver on the shore of Semiahmoo Bay.
The Planning and Development Services Department seeks a Planner to join their team on a temporary full time basis (approximately 24 months). This position will be focused on the complete range of development applications and will assist with a number of strategic and policy projects including, but not limited to, the Official Community Plan review. This position will interact regularly with the public and the development community, requiring outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
The successful candidate will possess a Masters Degree in Planning, preferably with a minimum of five years of experience in a municipal setting. Current membership or eligibility for Membership with the Planning Institute of British Columbia or Canadian Institute of Planners is required. Experience with Tempest/PROSPERO or similar data management system preferred. Beyond a work history that reflects strong knowledge of planning principles and relevant legislation, candidates must also demonstrate flexibility, and strong analytical and written communication abilities. A valid B.C. Class 5 Driver’s license is also required.
The hourly wage range of this position is $40.16 – $47.44 with comprehensive benefits offered. The expected duration of this appointment is from August 2015 to August 2017.
