Under the general direction of the Manager of Planning & Design, the incumbent is responsible for undertaking professional planning assignments, administering the Official Community Plan, Zoning Bylaw, OCP amendments, rezonings and Development Permit processes, and providing staff support to Councils’ Advisory Committees.  The Planner position within the City’s Planning & Design Section includes responsibility for planning policy and program development, as well as processing development-related applications, including Official Community Plan and Zoning Bylaw amendments.

Applicants must have a University degree in urban planning, geography or related field as well as a minimum of three (3) years’ related experience.  They must also be eligible for membership in the Planning Institute of BC and possess a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence.  The incumbent must have considerable knowledge of community planning principles, practices, techniques and methods as they relate to the work performed, current trends and developments.
