The City of White Rock is a unique, ocean-side community of approximately 20,000 citizens known for its sunny weather, expansive beach, historic pier, delightful restaurants, and sense of community. The City is located half an hour south of Vancouver on the shore of Semiahmoo Bay.
The City seeks a Parking Patrol Officer to complement their team on a regular full-time basis. This individual will deliver top-notch customer service to the community while performing enforcement work in ensuring compliance with municipal parking regulations and applicable bylaws. Parking Patrol Officers patrol parking areas and issue citations for parking infractions, provide information to the public on parking regulations and the operation of parking equipment, and prepare routine records related to the work. The work also involves collecting coins from parking equipment, performing routine maintenance on related equipment, and communicating any observed problems to supervisor during patrols, such as signs of vandalism on City property.
Requirements:
Completion of Grade 12 and some related regulatory or enforcement experience dealing with the public; or an equivalent combination of training and experience; coursework related to the work is preferred;
Sound knowledge of the regulations and bylaws governing traffic and parking within the municipality, and of the municipal street layout;
Some knowledge of the operation and maintenance of parking equipment;
Ability to deal tactfully and diplomatically with the public and the ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion in decision making;
Outstanding customer service, communication and conflict resolution skills;
Ability to maintain clear and accurate records;
Ability to walk long distances and up steep slopes in all types of weather;
Possess and maintain a valid B.C. Class 5 driver’s license or equivalent with an acceptable driving record;
Ability to successfully pass a Police Information Check.
The annual wage range for this position is $44,905 – $52,776 with comprehensive benefits offered. Hours of work include evening and weekend shifts.
