Position Overview: This is the perfect job for someone who strives to make meaningful and direct impacts in the community through the use of their leadership, community development and relationship building skills. The Manager of Community Social Development is responsible for the overall Leadership of the Community Social Development Team including: (FCSS) Family and Community Support Services and (BVPL) Bow Valley Parent Link. You will work with your team of caring and dedicated professionals to identify social themes, analyze community needs, develop and maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders and advocate for the community by communicating these needs and possible action steps to mayor, council and community. Attributes: We are looking for an active and engaged LEADER with the ability to develop people and cultivate meaningful and collaborative relationships within your team and with the community. To be the best fit for this position, you must have a genuine interest and understanding of community development theory, social work models, advocacy, program implementation and community consultation and you must be comfortable speaking in front of a group and facilitating learning sessions and workshops. With demonstrated political acumen, you are a creative, strategic thinker who can turn words and ideas into actionable results. You have the ability to actively understand and deliver on council’s vision and motivate your team to turn ideas into deliverable actions that benefit the community now and in the future. You have a minimum of 6-8 years of progressive experience in Human Service Management, leadership and team development with demonstrated success fostering collaborative relationships with both internal teams and external
stakeholders. Experience working and communicating in a politically sensitive environment such as the public sector and/or non-profit organizations will also help you to be successful in this role. Post-secondary education in a related field of study is an asset.
