With a population of 30,568, Parkland County offers a range of municipal services and a vibrant mix of agricultural, residential, industrial and recreational opportunities.  This unique rural area is situated on the west outskirts of Edmonton, stretching over 2438 sq. km. of picturesque landscapes.

Parkland County has a Permanent, Full-time position available for a General Manager, Corporate Services Division.  As a member of the Senior Executive team, the General Manager, Corporate Services Division provides direction, leadership and management for the County’s critical service functions, including: Human Resources, Corporate Planning, Legislative & Legal (which includes Purchasing, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) and Records Management), and Information Services (which includes Information Technology and Geographic Information Services).  The General Manager oversees the development, review and evaluation of progress of the County’s Strategic Plan.  This position requires well developed interpersonal and communication skills along with the ability to contribute effectively to the corporate and operation planning, problem solving and decision-making processes.

Qualifications:

This position requires formal, post-secondary education (degree) in   Commerce, Business Administration or a related field, or similar academic preparation (preferably) in one of the major function areas of the portfolio.  MBA is preferred.
Ten (10) years administrative experience with at least five (5) years in a senior level position, in a public sector organization preferred.
Experience in supervision and management of staff and projects is a requirement.
CLGM (Certified Local Government Manager) or other similar accreditation   is desired.
In depth knowledge of the Municipal Government Act and other legislation applicable to municipal government.
Proficiency with computer applications (MS Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
Possession of a valid Alberta Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record is required.

Rate of Pay:
Salary will commensurate with qualifications and experience.
