Play a pivotal leadership role in shaping and maximizing
the workforce capabilities of North America’s 4th largest city

As the chief human resources executive, you will contribute leadership and strategic direction to a City with over 50,000 employees and an annual operating budget of more than $11 billion serving a population of 2.8 million. You will also be responsible for the delivery of human resource services through the Shared Services model to the City’s Agencies, Boards and Commissions.

You will report directly to the City Manager and will lead a broad portfolio tHat comprises: employee and labour relations; organization development, learning and workforce planning; performance and succession management; employee engagement; health and safety, disability management and employee assistance; strategic recruitment, compensation and employment services; and HR information systems. Working closely with the executive team, senior managers and other key stakeholders across the organization, you will leverage your experience as a human resources executive to serve as a strategic business partner and lead all aspects of the City’s talent strategies and practices. You will build on y our past success to position the HR group as a recognized value-added business partner and engage your team to deliver the highest calibre of services to your customers.

You possess expertise in human resources strategy and the intellectual creativity to look beyond traditional solutions. A visionary HR leader, your continuous improvement focus and innovative nature generate alternative approaches to complex human resources issues. Your strong leadership skills are vital in setting key indicators to measure and drive HR business outcomes.

You have a leadership style that is bold, progressive and contemporary, a spirit of enterprise and innovation and you are comfortable working and collaborating across the organization as well as with Council. Broad HR leadership experience in large, complex, unionized organizations with diverse stakeholders is a must. You are well known as a politically astute and visionary leader who is comfortable working with Councils / Boards and business partners. You inspire a shared vision and drive for results in a climate of accountability.
