The Town of Oliver is seeking a key member of the senior management team to undertake all statutory functions under Section 148 of the Community Charter and assume responsibility for the statutory functions set out under the Local Government Act, Community Charter and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Corporate Officer will lead the administration, building inspection, bylaw and planning departments and provide assistance to Council, committees of Council, the public and municipal departments in strategic planning, risk management, administration of municipal properties and corporate performance management.
The successful applicant will have exceptional communication, organization and administrative skills and will also bring strong policy development skills, analytical and problem solving skills to the position as well as:
A diploma in Local Government Administration or equivalent combination of education and experience;
A minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a Corporate Officer or a minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in local government administration;
Supervisory experience working in a unionized environment;
Experience working with the Local Government Act, Community Charter and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act;
Thorough knowledge of legislation, related statutes, laws, regulations, and precedents respecting local government and elections.
