City Manager – City of Thunder Bay – Thunder Bay, ON

The City of Thunder Bay is seeking a proactive, engaged and visionary
consensus builder to be their next City Manager.  The position is open
due to the pending retirement of the current incumbent.

The City Manager will report to Council and will provide leadership to a staff of approximately 2000 FTE’s and manage a budget in the order of $400 million.  You will work closely with the Mayor and Council and the Executive Management Team to implement the community’s vision, implement Council’s directions and establish targets and standards of performance and lead the City to build on past success and realize its full potential.  Superior financial management, outstanding community engagement, economic development and Downtown revitalization are key priorities of Thunder Bay City Council.

You are committed to open and transparent government and actively seek opportunities to communicate in various forums, encourage citizen input and publicize decisions and you willingly respond to media when appropriate.  You have the ability to lead a highly competent and collaborative staff and to work effectively with Council.  You have an established track record as a politically astute and visionary leader who is creative and innovative.  You inspire a shared vision and drive for results in a climate of accountability.

You are a senior executive in a municipality or other complex organization.  You foster excellence in others and are known for your ability to motivate, mentor and lead with respect, honesty and fairness.  Work with the Mayor and Council and a highly skilled and dedicated workforce to create an even better place in which to live and work.
