HOURS OF WORK: 2 – 8 hours per week
SALARY: Starting rate is $21.77 per class + 12% in lieu of all benefits
The City of New Westminster has auxiliary positions available for leading children’s recreation programs (ages 5-12 years). Shifts will take place at the Queensborough Community Centre regularly in after school hours on weekdays and some weekends.
Candidates considered for these roles must have the ability to provide leadership for a variety of recreation programs and activities. Candidates will plan activities to meet the goal of the program, provide leadership and supervision to participants, and liaise with parents. A minimum of 1 year program leadership experience is preferred.
Successful applicants will possess the following:
Current Standard First Aid and CPR C certification.
Superior communication and exceptional customer service skills.
Experience working with children with specific skill sets in sports or arts.
Ability to successfully pass and maintain a criminal and police record check.
Completion of post-secondary courses in recreation or a related field, preferably supplemented by experience in children’s programming.
Duties include:
Provide program leadership to children in a safe, positive and fun manner.
Develop and implement developmentally appropriate recreation programs for children.
Liaise with parents and members of the community.
Support Queensborough Community Centre needs and special events as required.
