The Regional District of Nanaimo is seeking a Chief Operator of Wastewater Services at the Greater Nanaimo Pollution Control Centre (GNPCC). Reporting to the Wastewater Supervisor, the successful applicant will be responsible for the effective operation of the GNPCC through the operation, maintenance and supervision of the facility. This position provides leadership, direction and support to the department by assisting team members in their duties, as required, to meet service expectations, departmental goals and objectives.
Preferred applicants will have a strong knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, operation and maintenance planning, asset management planning, and ISO 14001 requirements, as well as proven skills in personnel supervision, leadership, team building and problem solving.
Applicants must possess a Post-Secondary Diploma in Water and Wastewater Technology, supplemented with an EOCP level IV Wastewater Operators Certificate. This position also includes carrying a pager on a rotational basis and responding to call outs. It is also expected that the successful candidate resides within 20 minutes of the Pollution Control Center.

This is a permanent full time Union position. The rate of pay is for this position is $35.45 to $37.32 per hour. This position offers an attractive benefits package as provided within the Collective Agreement between the Regional District of Nanaimo and the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 401.
