We are currently seeking a permanent full-time Certified Utility Operator III to work in our Public Works Department/Utilities department.
Reporting to the Chief Operator/Utilities III, the successful candidate will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Town’s sanitary sewage collection, treatment and disposal systems, supply and treatment of potable water and maintenance of the water distribution system in accordance with Town policy and Ministry of Environment guidelines.
Applicants must possess a Water Distribution Level III, Wastewater Collection Level III and Water and/or Waste Water Treatment Level III Certification of Qualification or Competency from Environmental Operators Certification Program. A minimum of 5 years previous experience in Municipal water and sewer maintenance or related water and sewer maintenance work is required. Possession of a Chlorine handling certificate, WHMIS, knowledge of confined space entry and safe work procedures, as well as Transportation of Dangerous Goods and a valid 1st Aid ticket are necessary. The incumbent must also possess a valid Class 3 BC Driver’s Licence with Air Endorsement.
This is a permanent full time Union position (40 hours per week) with a rate of pay of $35.85 (subject to JE). The position offers an attractive benefits package as provided within the Collective Agreement between the Town of Ladysmith and the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 401.
