Anvil Centre is the showpiece civic facility located in the heart of the downtown New Westminster. Anvil Centre encompasses 84,000-square feet of interior space and includes: conference and meeting facilities, theatre, multi-purpose rooms, multi-purpose art studios, art gallery, the City’s Museum and Archives, and much more. Reporting to the General Manager (or designate – Event Logistics Coordinator), incumbents will be focused on the manual labour work required in the set up and dismantling of events within Anvil Centre. The work involves the safe set-up and placement of all necessary equipment (and furniture) before the event opening and to ensure all equipment (and furniture) is returned to its proper location and stored in a neat and orderly fashion. The incumbent will work collaboratively with related internal and external event coordinators, staff, suppliers and contracted services to ensure the successful event set up and take down.

REQUIREMENTS:

Completion of Grade 12 and related course work plus related work experience. Experience in a conference centre or hospitality environment will be considered an asset.
Ability to operate “Manlift” lifting equipment.
Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, ensuring exemplary customer service is demonstrated at all times.
Demonstrated ability in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with clients, staff and contracted service providers.
Effective communication, both orally and in writing.
Ability to maintain basic log books or documentation.
Ability to work in a safe manner and possess working knowledge of applicable health and safety regulations.
Perform other job-related duties as required.
Physical ability to perform manual labour. Extended periods of standing and at times extensive walking from one location to another on a variety of surfaces, bending and ability to lift and carry up to 18 kg.
Standard First Aid certification (OFA1) is considered an asset.
The ability to pass and maintain a criminal and police record search.

*Candidates must have the ability to work non-standard work hours as operationally required, which include days, evenings, weekends and statutory holidays. Hours of work are scheduled according to operational need and event requirements.
