The new Department of Community Services seeks an “Assistant Manager, Programs” to lead its Programs Sub-Department.
Tasks
You will directly manage the following members of our Leadership Team: Social Services Worker, Supervisor of Adult Programs (includes Adult Learning & Literacy), Supervisor of Aquatics, Supervisor of Fitness, and Supervisor of Preschool Programs (includes Licensed Preschool) and the following teammates: Early Intervention Worker; Family Support Workers.
You will indirectly manage our Aquatic Attendants, Contract Instructors, Head Lifeguard/Instructors, National Lifeguards, Personal Trainers, Preschool Assistants, Programmers, Senior Head Lifeguard/Instructor and Swim Instructors.
You will work cooperatively with peer and subordinate teammates to determine community needs and develop and implement recreation, leisure, sport, fitness, social and preschool programs and services to meet or exceed the needs and expectations of our community.
You will evaluate community service programs and offerings to determine the need for reimplementation and/or redesign.
You will manage human resources, including volunteers, appropriately, according to established policies and procedures and recommend changes to policies and procedures when appropriate to do so.
You will manage a budget entrusted to you with transparency, adhering to established policies and procedures.
You will consistently implement proven risk management strategies to ensure the safety of members, guests, program participants, volunteers and staff.
You will ensure the planning and implementation of programs and services in a manner which reflects the Mission and Vision Statements of the Town of Grande Cache and the Operating Statement of the Department of Community Services.
You will work diligently to ensure program and service offerings for citizens of all ages and abilities.
Together with the Manager of Community Services and the Assistant Manager, Parks & Facility Operations, you will serve as a member of the Departmental Steering Team to ensure the safe, effective and efficient management of the Department of Community Services.
Educational Requirements
A post-secondary education in recreation and leisure studies, recreation and leisure services, recreation leadership, sport administration, education, early childhood education, adult education, social work, developmental service work, special event management or a related discipline is strongly desired.
A minimum of seven to ten years of relevant work experience gained through progressively-responsible employment is desired.
Accreditation and/or certification from at least two standard setting, certifying bodies in one or more of the following areas is strongly desired: aquatics, coaching, fitness, gerontology, early childhood education, adult education, education, personal training, or facility operations.

Compensation
An attractive salary, based on a flexible 40-hour workweek, is combined with a comprehensive benefit package and pension compensation.
